The Essence of the Bluegrass is located in the heart equine industry that lives and breathes in the "Horse Capital of the World".  During the spring and fall meets at Keeneland race track the bow-ties and big hats come to life, the mint-juleps flow, and some of the most thrilling horse racing in the world provides for a leisurely afternoon. If your visit doesn't happen to be during the two meets, don't fret because the Red Mile Harness race track is only minutes away with Harness racing.  Of course the most exciting two minutes in all sports takes place with the running of the Kentucky Derby, the first saturday in May.  There is not a better place to stay and play if horse racing is on your to do list.
